From 1980 to 1983 he was in practice for himself. Prior to that, he served Stein, Sapack & Ames in a number of capacities and was an Associate for 6 years. Mr. Whitaker has been active in a wide variety of building types. Clients have been from both the public and private sectors. Recent projects in the public sector have involved space planning and feasibility studies for the towns of Watertown, Woodbury and Greenwich as well as ADA compliance modifications to the historic Town Hall for Watertown and the Connecticut Community-Technical College system. Private sector work has included clients like COMSAT Corp., BankBoston and the Taft School. Current and recent projects include complete renovation and additions to the Oakville Branch Library in Watertown, a new neighborhood clinic for Staywell Health Care, several automobile dealerships, renovations to Founder’s Hall at St. Margaret’s-McTernan School in Waterbury, a major addition to Grace Baptist Church and renovations to the administration offices and program areas for the Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries. Mr. Whitaker serves on the Building Performance and Regulations Commission of the Connecticut Society of Architects, is a founding member of BOCA Professional Chapter of Connecticut, is an advisor to the Watertown library, and is a member of the Building and Property Committee of the Connecticut Central District of the United Methodist Church as well as President of the Trustees of Watertown United Methodist Church |
