EXPERIENCE
Mr. Whitaker has been with the firm as a partner since 1983. From 1980 to 1983 he was in practice for himself. Prior to that, he served Stein, Sapack & Ames in a number of capacities and was an Associate for 6 years.
Mr. Whitaker has been active in a wide variety of building types. Clients have been from both the public and private sectors. Recent projects in the public sector have involved space planning and feasibility studies for the City of Waterbury and the towns of Watertown and Southington. Private sector work has involved large companies like the USPS and AT&T as well as many smaller groups, particularly churches and daycares.
Current and recent projects include schematic design studies for new town offices for the towns of Watertown and Warren, a new senior/community center for the Town of Woodbury, work for the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, a new Community Center for the Town of Newtown, several projects for the U.S. Coast Guard and a study for Wolcott Fire Company 2.
Mr. Whitaker serves on the Building Performance and Regulations Commission of the AIA/CT, is a founding member of BOCA (now ICC) Professional Chapter of Connecticut, and is a member of the Building and Property Committee of the Connecticut Central District of the United Methodist Church as well as a Trustee of Watertown United Methodist Church. Mr Whitaker is immediate past president of Waterbury Symphony Orchestra.
